Here's something you don't see every day--a 6-string banjo with 31 frets. No, it's not a 'guitar banjo', it's a true 6-string banjo--I.E. a normal 5-string banjo with an extra low G string added between the 4th and 5th strings.

It's in Very Good condition. There are a few small scratches but it's completely playable right out of the case. Scale length: 26-3/8 Fingerboard radius ~15 Width at nut: ~1-5/8 Width at 22nd fret: ~2-1/16.

Block mahogany rim and maple neck laminated with ash and ebony strips for a balanced tone, capable of being warm and deep or sparkly and high, depending on how you set it up and play it. The fingerboard is rosewood with some minor scratching from frequent playing. The frets are in perfect condition. The neck was made by Luthier's Mercantile and has a recessed steel plate in the fingerboard extension so it can't snap off. It's set up for a zero-fret that I have compensated somewhat on the 6th, 4th, and 2nd strings for perfect intonation and tuning. Rickard Cyclone tuners on the 1st and 6th strings, Schaller D-tuners on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

The resonator has some of the most beautiful inlay work I've ever seen as shown in the pictures. The inlay on the armrest is a sticker, unfortunately, not real recessed inlay. Everything but that is real.

On a scale of 1-10, where 10 is the most bodacious, bell-like bang you would ever hear from a pre-war, Id give this banjo a 7 Maybe a 7.5 or 8 on a good day, or if you have hands that are good at pulling tone. It currently has light-gauge strings on it, with a .032 on the low 6th. You could even re-slot the nut and make this a wide-neck 5-string if you wanted to.

It has been set up recently with a brand new head and strings so it is ready to go.

I'm open to offers, or, if you have something to trade, feel free to ask. I'll be interested if you have a good banjo you want to trade.

Feel free to message me with any questions you might have. The banjo is ready to play, right out of the case.
