The Deering Sierra openback (2023) is a uniquely versatile "clawgrass" banjo that will hold its own in any old-time session or bluegrass jam. This is owing to the fact that the tone chamber (pot) is built using a rim made of violin grade maple combined with the highly regarded Deering 06 - 20 hole bell bronze flathead tone ring.

This is the same ring that is used in the Deering Clawgrass Banjo line and it produces a sparkling and powerful sound! Eliminating the heavy flange and resonator also gives the banjo a lighter weight that goes easier on the back.

The banjo was ordered directly from the Deering shop and was professionally setup by expert banjo luthier Richie Dotson. He reset the action, replaced the 5th string holding spike with a pip (nut), replaced the original Shubb 5th string capo with spikes at the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th frets and chose a custom Dotson bridge to bring out the fullest tone possible. This banjo includes a Deering hardshell case.

The banjo is available for pick-up only in Victoria, BC. Price is firm. Sale is final. No trade-ins or third parties. Thank you!
