For Sale: A.C.Fairbanks "Electric" #5 with rare bump out case.

A.C. Fairbanks #5 "Electric" open-back banjo circa 1897, with extremely rare and sought after, side bump out, hard shell case. 10 15/16th spun german silver shell. plastic head.Scalloped "Electric" tone ring. This tone ring configuration became the later "Whyte Laydie" tone ring. String height at 12th fret is approximately 1/4 with a 1/2 in bridge. Carved heel and back strapping..Later gold plated flat type hooks. Original two pointed shoes with newer gold plating. No knot tailpiece. Plastic head. Grooved tension hoop. Metal friction tuners (one is non matching) Missing small area of mother of pearl at 3rd and 7th inlay. Will be replacing these in the next month or two…Replaced piece of binding on inside of shell..Slight forward bow in neck. Doesn’t effect playability. See pictures. My estimate on condition is my own and is subjective. I urge interested parties to come see and play or have a representative stop by to evaluate..Go to link below. Sounds wonderful.

Case will not be sold separately.
