For Sale: SOLD PENDING FUNDS! Prewar Style 5 Conversion in Great Condition! (sold)
This is a very nice original condition TB5 Gibson conversion to 5 string banjo and does not look to have any re-plated parts or finish overspray.
I am listing this for my friend …….he does all my hand cut inlays and inlaying for my conversion neck builds.
He built this beautiful matching conversion neck and sent to me and I fitted neck to pot and set it up and my finish guy Ken Hooper of “Hooper" guitars did the outstanding finish matching neck to resonator perfectly.
This banjo plays and sounds really good.
Has period original Ludwig Planet tuners with genuine pearl buttons and matching gold Schaller 5th tuner with like pearl button as well.
We added a great condition pre EPA head for that little extra sparkle!
You won’t find a nicer example of original style 5 if this is your cup of tea.
It has a 40 hole arch-top tone ring.
Tenor neck was not with the banjo.
Interesting feature which I have seen before on other style 5s is that the engraving on tone ring and tension hoop looks to be style 6 engraving.
Banjo comes in a new Access HSC.
This banjo is from the batch of style 5s that Gibson pulled some leftover ball bearing rims and glued a top cap on them and cut them for the arch-top rings which explains the
