For Sale, Rare 1928 Tenor TB3 Gibson Banjo with “No Hole Tone Ring”. Now equipped with a Robin Smith 5 string neck.
Serial # 8948-61.
Tube and plate, 2 piece flange
One of only 26 No hole Tone ring units, built in 1928
Rogers hide head and Grover 'pancake style' tuners.
Tenor Finger board shows normal fret wear which indicates it was played well during its period of time.
Resonator in great shape with just an occasional amount of scratches and dings. Beautiful cream binding around top and back edge of resonator.
These old original archtops have an incredible amount of tonal character. Owners of these no-hole tone ring banjos, know that they possess great bottom end and fat expressive highs. This tenor alone is priced at $3800. With the Robin Smith 5 string neck,$4200.00
