For sale is Williams Kenny Ingram banjo #3, built in 2007 by well-regarded builder Will Williams. Williams built 4 prototypes and only 25 numbered Kenny Ingram banjos, plus, I think, a couple of floor-sweeps and, possibly, a couple for family and friends. These banjos were assembled from the best available components, including unplated Burlile tone ring, Sullivan Factory Floor rim, Gill reso, Hatfield neck, Keith standard tuners, RK flange (I think), and Prucha hardware.
The KI banjos are justifiably famous for the excellence of their build and sound, and this one is no exception. It looks, sounds, and feels great. The KI banjos were discussed at length in the profiles of Will Williams and Kenny Ingram in the December 2009 issue of Banjo Newsletter. See banjonews.com/2009-12/profile_...iams.html, banjonews.com/2009-12/profile_...gram.html. I understand that as Williams neared the end of production, the KI banjos sold new for about $6,500.
This banjo is in excellent condition, as can be seen in the photos. No issues worthy of mention, save that the banjo could stand some polish. The frets show little signs of play. I was told that a prior owner had the neck refretted. If so, it clearly was done by an expert.
No trades, please. HSC included.
