1929 Gibson TB4 5 string conversion banjo
This is a nice all original pot for a 1929 one piece flange TB-4 with an original raised head tone ring. This is also an interesting conversion because of the neck, which was made at Gibson and believed to have been made during the Greg Rich era. The banjo is in really good shape and the walnut resonator looks just great!!! This is a fat boy shell which has caused the flange to pull on each side which doesn’t effect anything but is worth noting. The neck has a rosewood fretboard with a flying eagle inlay and there are spikes at the 7th, 9th and 10th frets.
The frets are also in really good shape which is a huge plus. This whole banjo is in great shape which really makes a big difference in how this feels to hold and also the appearance of the instrument. This is a great condition banjo that has absolutely been well taken care of and has all original parts on the pot and even the neck was made at Gibson.
The fact the Gibson neck is definitely significant particularly because it is a Rich era because in a way this would be like a factory warranty job. It is not uncommon for manufacturers to do warranty repairs years later and the Gibson neck would be something like a correct part. When you add that it is Rich era you now have a top of the line factory conversion banjo!!!
This is a fabulous example of a 1929 Gibson TB4 5 string conversion Banjo. This also includes a nice hardshell case. This has been fully inspected and set up and includes our Full Satisfaction Guarantee. If you have any questions at all please ask. Thanks!!!!!
