For Sale: Gibson 1927 No Hole |
|
Great MB-3 Conversion with pro quality five string neck made to original specs by my favorite neck luthier, Don Bryant of Thurmond, NC. 11 inch raised head pot is all original with mismatched numbers. Rim #is 8866-1 which according to Spann is for an MB-3. There is a xxxx above it that I can't read. Reso # is 8823-53 which is listed as a TB-3 from the same year, 1927. I can't explain this mystery, with Gibson who knows. What I do know is that this banjo came to me fully intact as an MB-3 in its tiny case with the skin head still in place, unmolested. The mismatched neck and reso are from the same year so I think it is safe to assume whatever happened, happened at the factory in Kalamazoo. This is a great raised head no hole with a wide set up window. Comes with modern hard case.
Would rather sell within the region of the Southeastern US so the buyer could inspect and play the banjo without the risk of shipping. No trades. Glad to answer questions through the hangout email.
