For Sale: Gibson Original 19-Hole Flathead Gold w/VIDEO
Here's a bit of a rarity: A gold plated Gibson Style 250 from 1964 with the factory 19-hole flathead ring. There are a few of these known...perhaps the inspiration for the later Style 500. This was originally a PB-250 with serial #235172. It has the full thickness 3-ply maple rim. It now has a new beautiful mahogany neck from Eric Sullivan/First Quality in Louisville KY who supplied necks for Gibson for many years in the first place. I had Robin Smith do all of the final finish of the neck to match the resonator and fit the neck to the pot.
Since this banjo was gold plated I decided to go with the "Granada" look with the double-cut peg head and flying eagle inlay. The tuners are new Gotoh and the bridge is Sullivan roasted maple 5/8. There is normal finish checking on the resonator and there was a very small hole drilled through the rim for a light presumably. 5th string spikes are at 7 and 9th frets. It ships in a new Guardian case.
This banjo sounds great and has the classic Gibson mahogany flathead tone along with a Granada "look". FREE SHIPPING!!
