This is an outstanding Gibson Style 1 conversion. I do not know who did the conversion, but the luthier went the "extra mile" for sure. Being a late 30's with the F.O.N. DG4347 the original tenor neck would have had the number stamped in the back of the head stock. The luthier stamped the number in the rim to match the resonator. Some of the later ones had no Gibson label so this one has an aftermarket Mastertone label. The original prewar hardware on this banjo is absolutely stunning. Some of it looks almost new. The only modern piece is the added co-rod and Presto tailpiece which is adjustable. The tone ring is a Steve Ryan no-hole with the "SR" stamped inside the skirt. The reso shows wear but is also in great condition. I don't know the neck maker. I would assume the original luthier for this conversion made the neck. It's curly maple with a great profile. The neck is very slim. This banjo sounds tremendous and with great "playability". Ships in a new hard case.
