1930 VegaVox Special.
Very rare example of an early VegaVox, it has the words 'VegaVox Special" inlaid on the back of the head (please see photo).
I have seen other examples, but not sure why this was put on the banjo, tried to find out but to no avail.

It really is a wonderful looking instrument, and with the sound it really is something Special.
