This is a 1932 Gibson TB3 5 string conversion Banjo.  This has been inspected and set up here at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description

This is a 5 string conversion banjo with a really cool custom neck with an RB12 pattern and a Huber HR30 tone ring.

This is a mahogany banjo with nickel hardware and a 3 ply hard rock maple shell.  The neck is also mahogany with a rosewood fretboard.  The fretboard has an RB12 inlay pattern which is really a cool feature.  This is definitely unique.

There is w/b/w binding on each side of the neck (white with a black pinstripe) and white binding on each side of the resonator.  All of the hardware on the pot is original and this has a Pre War one piece armrest and a Grover Presto Tailpiece.

The banjo was fit and set up by Steve Huber.

This has a mismatched resonator and shell serial number but the resonator is a pre war ONE PIECE FLNGE STYLE 3 resonator.  This makes this a killer opportunity for a player because you can get a $10,000 banjo sound for a lot less!!!  This has every piece of pre war punch that someone would want out of a style 3 mahogany banjo.  Peel the paint off the walls!!!  This includes a TKL hardshell case.

Condition

This is an overall clean instrument.  There is some finish wear on the back of the resonator but that is jut cosmetic.  The hardware looks great.  The neck and fretboard are clean and straight.  The frets are basically perfect.  There are spikes in the 7th-9th frets.  The case is also clean.

Set Up

This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse.  This has a frosted head which is clean.  The bridge is a Sosebee bridge and this has new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings.  The head is set to 90 on a drum dial.  This has nice string height and correct intonation.  Everything is fully adjustable.  This is a fantastic banjo for a player that wants serious quality and make no mistake, this banjo is identical to a $10,000 style 3 but with a Pre War resonator that didn't leave the factory with the rest of the banjo.
