Bacon and day #2 pot with custom resonator and spectacular five string conversion with an ebony finger board, sound spectacular

Bacon & Day Tenor Banjo (1920s) – 5-String Open-Back Conversion

Vintage Bacon & Day banjo from the early 1920s, serial number 11043, originally built as a tenor instrument and later professionally converted into a 5-string open-back setup. This instrument retains its original Bacon & Day pot and vintage construction, offering the rich, responsive tone these early American banjos are known for.

The banjo features classic multi-ply rim craftsmanship and period hardware, giving it a warm, articulate sound well suited for clawhammer, folk, old-time, or bluegrass-style playing. The modern 5-string neck conversion makes it fully playable while preserving the historic body of the instrument.

A strong blend of vintage character and modern playability, this piece is ideal for players who want authentic early 20th-century tone with a comfortable 5-string setup. Please review photos for condition details.
