This Nechville 5-string Meteor is very rare with custom Zebra wood body. Of course, Meteors are professional grade instrument with a true banjo sound. Tom Nechville outfits these Meteors with 2 pickups and switch to blend the 2 to your taste. The small head significantly reduces any feedback. Output is through a single quarter inch Jack.
It comes with a custom Nechville padded case, a professional grade strap with quick release locks, new strings installed, and a new spare set of D’Addario strings.
Also, this is a little "out there" but this Meteor comes with a one-of-a-kind custom made by Tom Nechville Roland GK-2A Synthesizer pickup ! I played this Meteor for about 2 years in a large cover band. We did bluegrass, but also rock, jazz, folk, Pop, etc. I wanted to synthesize the banjo but DID NOT WANT any additional weight on the head to mute the true banjo sound. Bela Fleck had a Roland GK-2A on his Deering Crossfire, but it was mounted straight onto the head, and I didn't want that. I called Tom Nechville and he designed & built a custom mount for the synthesizer pickup that "bridged" the head. Nothing touches the head. This way, when I flipped the switch over to non-synthesizer, it had the true banjo sound !! But when we were doing a non-bluegrass song, I could flip the synth on and drop in background organ, piano, sax,... you name it. It was a blast !
