I built this instrument using a neck blank that a friend of mine glued up some 20 years ago. He had intended it to be a 19 fret tenor. It was straight grained maple, with a black center lamination, and for the life of me, I could not envison a scenario where the world was enriched by one more plain maple tenor banjo neck....so I opted to create this piece. Vega built the banjorine based on their 17 fret tenor, so this one is unlike any other that I know of. The photos shown are a few days old and I'll replace them in a day or 2, and while I have installed the ferrule and clamp to the dowel stick, it still has no pegs installed. I am torn...between using a nice set of 2 tab Grovers....which will cost me nothing...and using a new set of 5 star planets, adding the old buttons, which makes them look like the old planets.
The price is for the banjo with 5 star planets installed. If you would be just as happy with the 2 tabs...I'll install those and the price is a hundred bucks less. The tailpiece is a very nice old Grover "window" model. I did wet the Rogers head and draw it down to the proper crown height.
It's a dandy little banjo, and if there's no interest here, it's going to need to go to ebay. If it does, it will be equipped with the old Grover 2 tab tuners.
I'm happy to address any questions you might have. You can even call me at 724-943-4581 if you'd like. They finally restored our phone service today. The cable was in horrible shape and much of it had to be replaced. Our phone is over the internet...so you lose one and you've lost both. It hasn't worked this well in many years. I even managed to increase the number of rings before the answering machine kicks on...so I may even be able to get to the phone before the stupid machine kicks on.
